Open coxed four at Bedford Spring Small Boats Head

Sunday 10th April
River Great Ouse, Bedford

Bedford Spring Small Boats Head offered one of our development crews a chance to demonstrate their training and progress through the term. Entered as a mixed crew, with only a few outings together, the nerves were palpable – but they relished the opportunity to race with 383 other crews on the River Great Ouse. Thank you to Bedford Rowing Club for organising a fantastic day of racing, and to Medway Towns Rowing Club for trailering! Thank you too to Will and Emma for supporting the crew on the day!

Our crew set off strong, with Charlie at the helm for his first race. Racing past Bedford College and Bedford Rowing Club into the final kilometre, they took the rate up, pressing on to Suspension Bridge. Spurred on by Will’s cheers at Butterfly Bridge, they sprinted through to the finish.

Charlie, Oliver, Aaron, Emily, and Tinde thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and treated themselves to a post-race meal at Foxy Wings! They look forward to building on this race during our Easter Training Camp, before competing at Lea Spring Regatta and BUCS Regatta.
