We are University of Kent Rowing Club

Founded in 1966, our club continues to cater to rowers and coxswains of all abilities, with dedicated programmes for both beginners and experienced members.

Our members train regularly during term time, with highlights including our two yearly training camps. We compete across the country throughout the year in both indoor and water events, medalling in events both big and small. We have been recognised by our Student Union with awards such as Sports Club of the Year for three years running from 2012 - 2016, Fundraising Impact Award in 2017, and a number of Sports Personality of the Year awards.

Our packed social calendar ranges from casual post-training socials, to formal events such as our Winter and Summer Balls.

Until September 2018, we boated from the Somerset Maugham boathouse in Plucks Gutter, rowing on the River Stour. Here, the narrow river restricted us primarily to IVs and small boats.

From September 2018 - April 2020, we shared a facility with King’s School Canterbury Boat Club at Westbere Lake, Sturry. This 1.3km stretch of lake has allowed us to switch to training and competing in VIIIs!

Since September 2020, we have shared the Cyril Baker Boathouse with Medway Towns Rowing Club. We’re excited to see the club flourish in this new chapter of its history!
