Types of race
Heads, Regattas and ARA points
There are two types of races that club participates in.
Regattas.
These are races in which a crew races side-by-side against two to five other crews, with the first accross the finish line winning the race. Winning a Regatta race wins you an ARA point. The ARA points system determine the standard you race at at Regattas and Heads. Until you win an ARA point, your ARA status is 'Novice.' Winning an ARA point promotes you to 'Intermediate 3' level, with 'Intermediate 2,' 'Intermediate 1,' and 'Elite' the highest levels you can achieve.
Heads.
These are races in the form of a time trial where crews are sent off at staggered stages, with the start time and finished time recorded to give race time, which is compared to other crews in the catagory, with the crew with the fastest time victorious.
